James Rogers, Graduate Site Engineer
- November 2024 - current: Graduate Site Engineer
Graduate scheme
After graduating, I was keen to join a graduate scheme, and Freyssinet stood out as an excellent opportunity to begin my engineering career. The company’s global presence and specialist expertise made the prospect of joining very interesting. The opportunity also struck me as one where I’d be able to learn a lot in multiple divisions and surrounded by very experienced professionals.
My Freyssinet journey started in the Sales & Estimating department in November 2024 learning the ins and outs of the pre-construction phase of projects. I spent a year in that department before joining the operations team as a site engineer in 2025. I am currently working within our Major Projects division on HS2-related schemes.
No two days are the same
I enjoy the variety of the role and the chance to work on interesting projects. No two days are the same, and I like being able to learn from experienced people across different areas of the business.
I recently spent time working on the A40 Westway in London, carrying out expansion joint replacement works for Costain and TfL. It was an interesting project to be part of – it’s such an important route and there are lots of stakeholders, so there was a lot of focus on planning and getting things right first time. I found it rewarding being part of a big team delivering improvements on a well-known piece of infrastructure.
Three words to describe Freyssinet?
Technical, experienced and supportive.
